Kevin Morby - Harlem River (2013)

Driving down the road with a full pack of smokes and some coffee seems like the perfect introduction for this album.  Kevin Morby (also in woods/babies) puts out his emotional debut LP with sounds of a dreamy landscape and truthful lyrics, perfect setting for an urban environment.  Pretty solid album but I actually do not like the titled track(which is normally one of the better ones).  Anyways, I like to think music can cure your problems and this is some good medicine.  Alittle different from what I normally post but good music is good music and moods are moods so "chill out man" and go get lost.

The Ruins of Beverast - Blood Vaults (2013)

Enchanting double LP release from Germany's Alexander von Meilenwald's (ex-Nagelfar) solo project The Ruins of Beverast.  This album is very well produced/written for only being one member and takes you on a long and dark journey through a world unknown.  "Blood Vaults" (best listened in entirety) has a melodic heart while throughout, raking you into a murky pit deep inside Freddy Krueger's dreams.  Passage ways only the sick and the bottom feeders can get to with songs like "Spires, The Wailing City" and immediately into "A Failed Exorcism".  This is the 4th full length since 2004 when he had started and the first I have actually listened to.  Lastly "Blood Vaults" dominating essence will cover you in its cozy death metal blanket and kiss you goodnight in hell.

Milk Music - Cruise Your Illusion (2013)

Crawling out of Olympia Washington, Milk Music put out this meaningful LP which has a guitar tone that will make you shed a tear.  "Cruise Your Illusion" came out of Fat Possum Records this year and this really had to grow on me.  First listen wasn't to impressed, then a month later, didn't get it, then I spun this again and slapped myself cause i must have been brain dead,  now I cannot stop listening.  Sounds of the 90's flood this album with acid-washed jeans and monotone vocals giving "Cruse Your Illusion" a sense of freedom and authenticity.  Once your ears "get" it you will love it.

Extortion - Loose Screws (2010)

Some bad-ass power violence grinding its way from Perth, Australia.  These dudes have a pissed off, short tempered, ADD infused style which is right up my alley and with some of the best t-shirt/artwork designs for this genre.  I insist that you play this loudly to damage your tympanums and dance around like an idiot by yourself in your kitchen.  At least that's what I do and it makes perfect sense.  If its too fast your too old.

Ex Cult - S/T (2012)

Ex-Cult is giving us this too cool for school vibe hailing from Memphis TN.  Actually had the chance to stumble upon them at UNfest2 and they absolutely KILL IT live.  Alot of energy is built into this band which you can easily hear from this 5 piece.  Each unique with their instruments showcasing their musical post-punk choice, reminds me of a very European style.  Instead of wanting to go rage hell, Ex-Cult gives me more of a strive to get shit done and be productive.  Keep it up y'all.  Use your minds and create what you love.
